Is It Time To Buy a New Car?

OK, we are in the midst of a deep recession. I haven't good economic news in over a year. I read about layoffs and businesses closing. I get it, times are tough. But, I want to throw out a crazy idea...this is a great time to buy a car!

My 2000 Dodge Caravan was on its last legs. We are an active family and need a minivan. We defined a few must have features and went shopping. The process was simply amazing. Here is my breakdown:

  • Sticker Price: $35,400
  • Dealer Best Price: $28,415
  • Chrysler Rebates: $4500
Net Sales Price: $23,915 That is an amazing 32% off!

Financing was a snap. We ended up getting a loan through Capital One (best interest rate we could qualify for), but we had multiple options from local banks as well. There is money to borrow.

If you are in need of some wheels, and you have steady income and decent credit, the auto industry is anxious to make some deals. Take advantage an save your self a bundle.
